Braam van den Berg

Braam, a qualified chartered accountant, has more than 20 years’ experience as auditor, trainer, consultant and general market practitioner. During his career he has left an extensive footprint across the South African financial industry. His exposure includes, inter alia, assisting in the structuring of the original South African Futures Exchange (SAFEX), now known as the JSE Derivatives Market, where he played an essential part in the implementation of the first futures transactions in South Africa. Braam was also called upon to provide specialist advice on the setup and structuring of investment portfolios for the University Johannesburg, Old Mutual, Prima Bank and other institutions in South Africa.
He currently serves as the CEO of the Intellivest Financial Services (IFS) group, where he is actively involved in the daily management of client portfolios and also serves as chair of the Investment Committee. In addition, he assists in providing accredited training on the financial and investment markets. His regular audiences include employees from the South African Reserve Bank, ABSA, Standard Bank, Allan Gray, University of the Free State and numerous other institutions across South Africa.

Ankie has more than 28 years’ experience in the field of financial markets. During this time he served as a senior economist in the financial services division of Transnet, and specialised in forecasting economic models while working at the South African Airways. He has also published numerous articles and was co-author of a number of prescribed textbooks. On two occasions he was approached to present papers at international conferences.
As a director of Intellivest Financial Services, Ankie utilises his unique skills as the company’s registered Compliance Officer. His specialised knowledge and experience enable him to provide essential strategic guidance with regard to the portfolios managed by IFS while also delivering accredited training on the financial and investment markets. His regular audiences include employees of ABSA, Standard Bank, Momentum, University of the Free State and numerous other institutions across South Africa.

After completing his formal studies Nicol started working in the Financial Services industry where he gained extensive experience in Investment Management, Portfolio Management and Personal Financial Planning, across various companies. His primary focus area has always been on investment management, especially on how to structure various types of strategy that will not only suit the client’s individual needs but also perform well in a continuously changing economic cycle.
At IFS, Nicol provides an essential input in creating and managing client portfolios. His industry wide experience provides the company with efficient alternatives and solutions which ensure that the needs of individual clients are met in an optimal way. Nicol, together with Braam, Ankie and Ziets, also devotes time to the lecturing of employees of the mentioned institutions as well as individuals across South Africa.

Ziets started his career in the late 1980s as an economics lecturer at Unisa. He joined the SA Reserve Bank in the early 1990s, where he was involved in the provision of training in financial markets, banking and investment related courses. While at the Bank he also served on its Pension Fund Investment Committee. In 2003 he became a co-author and -editor of the textbook Understanding South African Financial Markets, of which the 5th edition was published in 2015. After retiring from the Reserve Bank in 2015, Ziets joined Intellivest Financial Services (IFS) as part of their dynamic team of portfolio managers and financial advisers. During his career Ziets also served on the board of the SA Institute of Financial Markets and was elected as a Fellow of this body in 2015. He has a passion for people as well as financial instruments which is why he chose to focus the final part of his professional career on managing asset portfolios for clients at IFS. On occasion he also assists his colleagues with lectures to their clients.
Esther has been in the Financial Services industry since 2006. Her major focus was on property investments, managing various portfolios from short term to long term while also providing a suitable income for her clients.
Esther joined Intellivest Financial Services in order to broaden her expertise in the Financial Industry. This has provided her an excellent opportunity to assist her clients in diversifying their portfolios according to their risk profiles and financial needs.
Marga van Deventer
(BSc Hons (Quantitative Risk Management)),
Marga is a qualified Certified Financial Planner. She has 8 years’ experience in the financial industry. As part of the IFS team she assists in researching the best investment products in order to provide the highest standard of up-to-date advice for her clients.
Marga is passionate about empowering her clients to reach their personal financial goals. She accomplishes this by providing them with sound advice towards wealth creation and financial independence. She makes it a priority to thoroughly understand each client’s unique investment requirements as well as his or her financial situation and risk profile. She does this with integrity in order to establish a lifelong trust relationship.
